Oxen for Portland

Here are two more little ox drawings I'm sending up to the Compound Gallery in Portland this week:

Check them out if you're in the neighborhood this September!

Fast portraits

Here are a couple more quick doodle-paintings I did last week:

Forest Whitaker as the Last King of Scotland,

I just bought a tube of purple paint, so the next one will be way better

...and some random road warrior guy on a blind date,

"do you have instagram?"

These are super fun.  I'm trying to do them in less than an hour, but Forest went over by like thirty minutes.

Thanks for checking them out!

Strange beast 2

Here’s another quick gouache/ watercolor doodle I did last week.  It’s an octopus that decided to be a monster instead!

Strange beast

I was messing around with gouache and watercolor on top of acrylic matte medium earlier today.

SUPER super fun, possibly completely uncontrollable.  I'm going to look through that old article Thomas Blackshear did for Step-By-Step and see if I can rein this thing in.

I've been trying to figure out a way of painting my new comic in color and this might be it.  I could always paint it in black and white and color it digitally, but it's not any fun if I'm not constantly totally frustrated by my paints not doing everything exactly how I want them to.

Speaking of my new comic,

Thanks for checking it out!

CFSL Artbook 07

I got my copy of the new CFSL Artbook!

I know I say it every year, but I'm totally in love with these books.  They're full of pictures that make me jealous in pretty much every way possible.

And this book has one of my favorite pictures I think I've ever seen:

...and it also has me!

These books warm my heart so much.  If you can find a copy I definitely suggest picking it up, whatever the cost.  (Stuart Ng usually has them, but it looks like he hasn't gotten this one in yet)

Thanks for stopping by!  Soon I'm going to start posting drawings from my upcoming comic :O

Ellipses comics available again!

As promised a million years ago, my Ellipses comics are for sale online again!  It was out of print for a few years, but enough people have asked me about it that I had to reprint it.

The books are available here.

Thanks for stopping by!  I've got more good news coming later this week.
